History
The architectural structure, designed by the engineer Vittorio Cantoni for his family, dates back to the 1880s and consists of a central forepart facing the lake and surmounted by a turret and two lateral bodies protruding towards the rear that delimit a courtyard. The lake façade rises on a semicircular platform under which there are artificial caves.
The park once included part of the current road layout and ended with the two pavilions for access to the private dock. The land was sold to Cantoni by the Borromeo family in 1873.
In the central body there are four pilasters that divide the space vertically, horizontally two string courses highlight the window jambs.
The interior of the villa is adorned with frescoes attributable to the Venetian painter Giacomo Casa and was, at the time of its maximum splendor, furnished in Renaissance and neoclassical style. The chalet with a gabled roof with wooden lace and the two pavilions that allow access to the dock are part of the same property. The ground floor on which the smaller buildings are built features a rustication, onto which the entrance portal with a lowered arch and the ovoid oculi open. On the upper floor there are four sides completely open by four serlianas resting on convex balustrades. The terraced roof features lambrequins with coats of arms in the parapet. The exterior of the villa was occupied by a large garden full of exotic plants.
