The hotel was built in 1995 in a very solid earthquake resistant style. The foundation is built on a lava hill, and was designed by a German engineer. The hotel is designed in a colonial style. There is a huge cistern that was originally used by the project as a continuous water source from the local water supply. The hotel has its own high voltage connection with a transformer and a 60 KW generator.
