Algarvia is a Portuguese parish in the municipality of Nordeste with 5.4 km². It was officially created in July 2002, together with the neighboring Santo António de Nordestinho and São Pedro de Nordestinho, by division of the former parish of Nordestinho. The Algarve is connected by road to Ribeira Grande and the Northeast. Agriculture is the main activity. It has a coastline on the Atlantic Ocean to the north.
Nossa Senhora do Amparo is the Patron Saint of the Algarve. Every year the festival in honour of the patron saint is held on the last weekend of July.
The tradition of the feast of the Holy Spirit and the Pilgrimages is still maintained.
A Festival of Philharmonic Bands has been promoted in this parish, with the presence of the Bands of the Municipality and Guest Bands. Generally, it has been held at the end of September.
This parish is next to Pico da Vara, the highest point on the island of São Miguel, with about 1105 meters.
It has two beautiful viewpoints, the Despe-te Que Suas Viewpoint and the Vigia das Baleias Viewpoint, where it is possible to observe and see part of the north coast of São Miguel Island.
